Feng Shui : An Introduction

Feng Shui is a wonderful and powerful practice considered to have originated in China some 4000 years ago. It believes in living in harmony and balance with our environment. Feng Shui (pronounced fung schway) literally means wind and water and is the study of energy and how it affects people.  Feng Shui teaches you how to harness and control the visible and invisible energies that surround us. Feng Shui connects you to the flow of energy (also known as "chi")  in your home, office and other surroundings.

The basic idea behind the practice of  Feng Shui is that everything in our surroundings, affects us either favourably or unfavourably. The "chi" can work for us or against us.  By uderstanding the fine currents of energy that flow through our body and through everything in the universe, we can arrange our living and work environments to help us attain our goals.

The environment and arrangement of things etc. of our home or office can affect our peace of mind and physical health. By applying the principles of Feng Shui, it is possible to make our relationships  with our environment better, healthier and fruitful.  Feng Shui  provides a frame of ideas for refernce in order to understand the secrets of energy that moves in our surroundings. It shows us how  the atmosphere,  the style of buildings, and their interiors and  location of a structure  affect us subtly. Through Feng  Shui, we can enrich our  life and minimize obstacles and misfortune that come our way due to disharmony or imbalance.

Feng Shui believes in two opposite forces called yin and yang.  By harnessing  these two forces, we can  get more out of our life with less efforts. Yang energy is positive, light, high, bright and active. Yin energy is negative, dark and inactive.
